Origin of Guajyashwori Temple

In Treta Yug, when the Kathmandu valley was a lake and in a center of  that lake, there was a big lotus that flowed . In Dwaper Yug, when Manjushree cut the Chovar hill, all the water had flown and the lotus fell down in west side hill. The root of the lotus was very long and that joined into the earth. The hill where lotus fell became famous as Swyambhu Stupa and the place where root had joined became famous as Guajyashwori Temple. Manjushree made a city from Guajyashwori to Swyambhu and the city became famous as Manjupatan city. Manjushree taught people to cultivate the land and plant seed such as rice, wheat, vegetable, fruits etc. He also tought the people to read and write so we worship Manjushree as the god of knowledge.

Origin of Swyambhu Stupa  Long time ago, Kathmandu Valley was a big lake and a big lotus blossomed at the centre of that lake. The lotus was unique as special lights came from the lotus and thousands of people came to see that lotus. All people believed that the special light was coming  from the god of Agnistha heaven. At that time, the whole Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur city were under the lake and the lake was famous  by the name Nagdaha. One day, Manjushree came from China with his 5000 pupils. He saw the lake first of all from east side of  the hill and stayed one night there. The place where he stayed that night is famous as Lasapako Manjushree . He cut the Chovar hill and all the water flowed from there. When the lake was empty, the lotus  fell down in west side of hill and there Manjushree established the Swyambhunath Stupa.
