Origin of Guajyashwori Temple
In Treta Yug, when the Kathmandu valley was a lake and in a center of that lake, there was a big lotus that flowed . In Dwaper Yug, when Manjushree cut the Chovar hill, all the water had flown and the lotus fell down in west side hill. The root of the lotus was very long and that joined into the earth.
The hill where lotus fell became famous as Swyambhu Stupa and the place where root had joined became famous as Guajyashwori Temple. Manjushree made a city from Guajyashwori to Swyambhu and the city became famous as Manjupatan city.
Manjushree taught people to cultivate the land and plant seed such as rice, wheat, vegetable, fruits etc.
He also tought the people to read and write so we worship Manjushree as the god of knowledge.
